The Latinx Studies Undergraduate Certificate Program is designed for students who have an interest in Latinx studies, regardless of major or college affiliation. It utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to examining the experiences, cultures, and social conditions of Latinx communities in the United States.

LATINX 101 Introduction to Latino Studies
3 cr. Undergraduate.
Analyses of the historical and structural forces which have shaped the experience of Latinos in the U.S., including the relationship between Latinos and social institutions.

Sociological analysis of the experiences of Latinos. Examination of immigration and mode of incorporation from theoretical perspectives. Emphasis on Chicanos, Cubans, and Puerto Ricans.
Prerequisites: junior standing or higher and completion of a prior SOCIOL course; or consent of the instructor. Open to special students.
