Atmospheric Science, of which Meteorology is a subset, is the study of short-term weather and long-term climate, involving activities such as weather forecasting, climate projections, air quality modeling, data analysis, and basic and applied research.

Through the Atmospheric Science minor, students obtain a solid foundation in both weather and climate, the tools used to study them, and their consequences to people and organizations. The Atmospheric Science minor is a great option for students pursuing environmental- and/or data-science-focused majors who would like to learn more about weather and climate to improve their job prospects and/or pursue an Atmospheric Science graduate degree.

Requirements

Students must complete at least 9 upper-division (numbered 300 and above) credits in the minor in residence at UWM, and students must attain at least a 2.0 GPA on all credits in the minor attempted at UWM. In addition, students must attain a 2.0 GPA on all minor credits attempted, including any transfer work.
